WOLVERINE BANK TO DONATE PLAYHOUSE
November 2007: In keeping with the 2007 Midland Santa Parade theme, “Home for the Holidays”, Wolverine Bank’s float, “Home is Where the Heart is” will be proudly carrying and displaying a very special playhouse. Wolverine Bank parade chairperson, Sarah Rossi stated “As a community bank, we wanted to share our holiday spirit with an organization which helps to improve the lives of children in our area.” Our miniature home will be donated to Shelterhouse as it provides services to children who are experiencing a difficult time in their lives. We are hoping our playhouse can bring a little piece of a home which they can call their own.
The playhouse was designed and crafted for Wolverine Bank by Sarah Dubiel of Midland. The relocation ceremony and presentation of the “deed” to the home is set to take place at 1p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Shelterhouse following the 2007 Midland Santa Parade.
2007 PUMPKIN FESTIVAL – “APPLE BANK SHOT”
GAME A SUCCESS
October 2007: The 2007 Downtown Midland Pumpkin Festival, held on Thursday, October 25th was a great success! There were an estimated 5,000 ghosts and goblins that took part in this spook-tacular community event. Wolverine Bank was excited to bring their “Apple Bank Shot” game to this year’s venue, where trick-or-treaters of all ages were invited to toss an apple into bushel basket for a prize.
WOLVERINE BANK CELEBRATES THE
LONGEST DAY OF THE YEAR
June 2007: Summer Solstice, known as the longest day of the year, is celebrated each year in downtown Midland with a variety of activities from street performances and music to local artisans sharing their crafts with the community. Wolverine Bank, along with other downtown businesses proudly participated in this year’s event. Wolverine Bank brought local dance troupe, “Belly Dance Underground”, led by Emily Bolander of Midland, to the event in celebration of Solstice. Children of all ages stopped and watched as this talented group of young women performed for the crowd.
Wolverine Bank employees also handed out fun and festive items, such as balloons, to passers by. The weather was great and turn out even better. A great time was had by all.
HELPING MIDLAND BLOOM
May 2007: Since 1989, the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce has coordinated a project with local volunteers to help beautify the streets of Midland. It’s quite a sight to see, as some 500+ local volunteers line the streets, armed with their gardening gloves, trowels and flowers.
For the past several years, Wolverine Bank employees, their friends and families have been part of this growing tradition. The project, which plants a 2-½ miles route (a total of five miles of planting space) along Eastman Avenue, requires approximately 60 planting teams, with 8-10 people in each group. Wolverine Bank has adopted the section along the route directly in front of their Eastman Avenue location. Wolverine Bank representative Michael Vasicek said, “I was amazed by how may volunteers turned out for this event. It is nice to be a part of something that makes our community a little nicer.”
