WOLVERINE HOSTS BOOK DRIVE FOR LITERACY COUNCIL OF MIDLAND COUNTY

November 2008: Wolverine Bank is proud to have been supporting our community organizations for 75 years. As we enter the holiday season, Wolverine is particularly pleased to announce its partner for the 2008 Midland Holiday Santa Parade. This holiday season Wolverine Bank will be focusing its parade entry and donations on the Literacy Council of Midland County. The bank will be hosting a book drive, “Give the Gift of Reading”, and accepting donations for this worthwhile cause from now until November 20th. Although any new or gently used books are appreciated, the primary need is for children’s books this season. Monetary donations, made payable to Literacy Council of Midland County will also be accepted. Collection points for the drive will be at any of the three Midland Wolverine Bank locations (5710 Eastman Avenue, 118 Ashman Street, and 1015 S. Saginaw Road in Midland).

For details on how you can donate, contact Deanne Goulet, Marketing Specialist at (989)633-3463.

WOLVERINE BANK CELEBRATES 75 YEARS IN THE COMMUNITY

June 2008: To celebrate 75 years in the community, Wolverine Bank recently held two weeks of celebration activities at its Frankenmuth and Midland locations to thank the public. The events began with a Cupcake Kickoff and 75 Pint Blood Drive and had a myriad of other activities throughout the remainder of the weeks, such as Community Day, It's About Your Home - Go Green & Save! Day and Family Day. The events wrapped up with a community appreciation barbeque, in which Wolverine Bank staff served visitors to the locations with hot dogs, brats and polish dogs. Other favorites were cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones.

"Family Day was a big hit," said Betsy Zimmerman. "We had children arrive right at noon so they could start jumping in the Bounce House (provided by the Midland Community Center)".

There were games, prizes, and even some animals. Many people stopped out to visit with "Joe" the duck who was brought out on Community Day by a member of our local 4-H group.

All in all the two weeks were a great time and many thanks to all of those people who helped make Wolverine Bank's 75th Anniversary Celebration such a great success!

With nearly 150 entrants, one winner from each age group was selected. Winners were selected by the public who cast their votes at the Eastman location. Congratulations to Sarah Laurenz, age 5, of Breckenridge, Zack Zablocki, age 6, of Sanford, and Makiah Ross, age 11, of Freeland.

Local charities benefit from Wolverine Bank’s “Let’s Make a Difference” program!

March 2008 - Wolverine Bank employees have recently implemented an internal luncheon fundraiser in which funds raised are donated to their favorite local charities or not-for-profit organizations.

“We wanted to give back to those organizations that have touched our lives in some way,” says Carrie (Mantel) Ketchum, Personal Banker.

Each month, a different department within the bank is responsible for selecting a local charity to sponsor. The department organizes a themed employee luncheon, where money raised is matched, dollar for dollar by Wolverine Bank, enabling them to double their contribution to the selected charity.

“Because these organizations mean so much to Wolverine Bank employees and the communities in which they live and work, we offer our Eastman Avenue lobby to display pertinent information about their organization throughout the month of their scheduled luncheon,” says Ketchum.

The “Let’s Make a Difference” program began in September 2007 and has raised money for organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Midland, Boy Scouts of America – Lake Huron Council, Johnny Burke’s Children’s Foundation, North Midland Family Center, SOS Animal Rescue, and West Midland Family Center,. April’s selected organization is the Alzheimer’s Association of Mid-Michigan.
